KTM Racing Team rider Angus Reekie has dominated Wakefield Park’s second round of the Australian FX Pro-Twins Championship in New South Wales on 21-22 April.
Bowral resident Reekie was in a class of his own at the Goulburn-based circuit throughout the weekend, the defending champion winning six races from six starts aboard the KTM RC8R.
Reekie set a new lap record during Sunday’s first race with a 1:00.895sec around the technical and twisty 2.2-kilometre circuit, yet another achievement for the multiple-time Australian Supermoto Champion.
“The weekend started out pretty difficult, but Rob Twyerould from KTM helped us out a lot and we got the bike handling really well,” Reekie explained. “I was able to take six wins from six starts and broke the class lap record, which was great for KTM and the RC8R.
“We keep improving every time out, which is exactly what I aim for, so I couldn’t be happier with the bike and team at the moment. Thanks to everybody at KTM Australia, Motorex and Bendix for their support as always – it’s much appreciated.”
Trailing Reekie for the weekend with second position in five of the six races was experienced New South Welshman Simon Galloway on another KTM RC8R, supported by Cessnock Motorcycles, Motorex and Bendix.
Now with an 11-point lead over Galloway in the standings, Reekie’s season will continue at Queensland Raceway on 20-22 July in round three of the Australian FX Pro-Twins Championship.
